Kolkata Knight Riders did the same against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 47th match of IPL 2023. Actually, captain Nitish Rana played a gamble in the last over. He first handed the ball to Shardul Thakur, but soon the ball was in the hands of Varun Chakravarthy. Everyone was finding this decision strange, because there were 8 runs to save in the last over. Hyderabad had to score 9 runs to win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Abdul Samad were at the crease.
However, Captain Nitish Rana got success in this ploy. SRH team could score only 3 runs. Varun also got one wicket. On the other hand, if we talk about the last over, Abdul Samad was on strike in this over of Varun Chakraborty. He could only take one run on the first ball of Chakraborty.

However, he took a single off the next ball, leaving Hyderabad needing 6 runs to win off the last ball. There was Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the crease, who bats well, but Bhuvi understood that if the ball was short or full length, he could hit a six, but Varun kept the ball on the length, which he could not play, this way KKR got the victory by 5 runs.
