Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, 40th Match
In the 40th match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals had to face defeat by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 9 runs. After this defeat, DC’s team is on the verge of being eliminated from the tournament. There has been only one player who has put Delhi in a difficult position and that is SRH’s young spin bowler Mayank Markande. Mayank took such an amazing catch in the match against DC which proved to be a game changer. On the basis of this catch, Hyderabad snatched this match from the mouth of Delhi. Let me tell you, while batting first in this match, SRH had scored 197 runs on the board, while chasing this score, the Delhi team could reach only 188 runs.
Mayank Markande caught this catch on his own ball in the 12th over of Delhi Capitals’ innings. Salt and Mitchell Marsh shared a century partnership after David Warner was dismissed for zero. Breaking this partnership became very important for Hyderabad to return to the match. Then Aidan Markram put Mayank on the attack.
Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh said that it is unfair to blame the inexperienced Indian batsmen for the team’s defeat after failing to chase down the target against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Marsh, after taking four wickets in the match, played a brilliant innings of 63 runs in 39 balls and shared a second wicket partnership of 112 runs in 66 balls with opener Phil Salt to keep the team in the match. After the break of this partnership, the Delhi batsmen failed to create rhythm and lost the match by nine runs.
