IPL-2023 Lucknow Super Giants have defeated Punjab Kings by 56 runs in a high-scoring match in the 38th match of IPL 2023. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored 257 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, which is the second highest total in IPL history. In response, the Punjab team was dismissed for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Atharva Tayde scored 66 off 36 balls, his first fifty in IPL. Liam Livingstone (36 runs in 22 balls) and Sikandar Raza (23 runs in 14 balls) however could not play well. Captain Shikhar Dhawan returned after three matches but could play only two balls. Young fast bowler Yash Thakur took four wickets for 37 runs in four overs. This was Lucknow’s fifth win in eight matches while Punjab’s fourth loss in eight matches. Punjab’s score at one stage was 152 for four in 15 overs but scoring 106 runs in the last five overs was almost impossible.

Marcus Stoinis scored the highest 70 runs for Lucknow. Electing to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a good start. The team lost the first wicket in the form of KL Rahul. Rahul got out after scoring 12 runs in 9 balls. However, Kyle Meyers from the other end continued to bat with bat and scored 54 runs in 24 balls till he was dismissed before the last ball of the powerplay. After this, Marcus Stoinis and Badoni handled the innings and shared a half-century partnership for the third wicket. Badoni returned to the pavilion after scoring 43 runs in 24 balls. Puran had made his intentions clear by hitting hat-trick fours as soon as he arrived. Stoinis was dismissed after scoring 70 runs in 40 balls. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten after scoring 45 runs in 19 balls and Deepak scored 11 runs in 9 balls.
