Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings, 37th Match
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals have secured the first position in the points table of IPL 2023 by registering a thumping win over Chennai Super Kings on Thursday night. This is RR’s 5th win in 8 matches and has reached the top with 10 points. On the other hand, Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led CSK has suffered a huge loss due to this defeat. Chennai has already reached the third position straight away. Apart from CSK, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals also have 10-10 points, but due to better net run rate, Rajasthan is first and Gujarat is second. Apart from these teams, KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants are at the fourth position with 8 points in the top-4 of the IPL 2023 points table.
Chasing Rajasthan Royals’ target of 203 runs, Shivam Dubey (52 off 33 balls, two fours, four sixes) in front of Super Kings team Jampa (three wickets for 22 runs) and Ashwin (two wickets for 35 runs) Despite K’s half-century and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s (47) fine innings, could only score 170 runs for six wickets. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 202 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s half-century. Yashasvi scored the most runs for Rajasthan. He scored 77 runs in 43 balls with the help of 8 fours and 4 sixes. Electing to bat first, Rajasthan Royals got off to a strong start by Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Deshpande achieved maximum two successes but in his four overs, the Royals collected 42 runs. Mathisha Pathirana proved to be Chennai’s most expensive bowler by conceding 44 runs in four overs.
