On his maiden debut IPL match Arjun Tendulkar son of cricket Icon Sachin Tendulkar got to bowl two overs during the match opening spell. The first over he gave just 5 runs and the second over was little expensive giving away 12 runs, thus in his two overs with 1 wide he ended up giving 17 runs without any wicket.
It was a much waited debut, last couple of IPL seasons fans anticipated the same with much eagerness but this time around he found place in the playing XI. The pressure to perform just because of the surname he carries is immense. Only time will tell how he handles the pressure and delivers. IPL has been particularly cruel for bowlers, as we can witness the balls are flying for sixes in every single match. Arjun Tendulkar looked poised and as an allrounder he has got something to offer for his team. In order to earn a spot in the fiercely competitive playing XI, he will have to work hard and perform as per the expectation of the team.
The emotional Sachin Tendular took the Twitter to wish all the best to his son and as expected advised him to respect the game without bothering for the result. Hopefully he has taken note of the same much before this tweet. Here is the tweet for your reference.
Veteran India speedster and Sachin’s 2011 World Cup teammate, Sreesanth, was full of praise for Arjun’s bowling with the new ball.
“I was the happiest person when I saw him on the ground. It’s so good to see a legend’s son and it isn’t easy for a player from a legendary family, but he came out with flying colours,” Sreesanth told Star Sports. And I feel he played exceptionally well for his first game. I would have loved to see him get a wicket and go about things. But I am very confident that having a father like Sachin Paaji will help him come good.”
Sehwag, in conversation with Cricbuzz at the end of KKR’s innings, had said: “He was brilliant on his debut”. The former India opener also wanted to see Arjun hit a six as a winning run for MI, but perhaps that is reserved for another day.
